Impressions from the IFOY Innovation Check

In autumn 2015 every forklift truck manufacturer was invited to submit their latest innovations for the IFOY Award 2016. Out of these entries, ten were nominated for the final round in December 2015. It was these ten candidates that were put through their paces during the Test Days by the IFOY Innovation Check and, on the last two days, by the 25 members of the jury.

For an entire week the hopeful candidates were put to the test as they lifted, moved and stacked - with every aspect measured. The ten nominated newcomers were subjected to extensive testing followed by the IFOY Innovation Check in Hall 9 of the Deutsche Messe exhibition ground. The latter was carried out by the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) in Dortmund and the Machine Elements and Technical Logistics body at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg, and assessed in particular with regard to the innovative value of the devices and their ranking in a market comparison. The IFOY Test measured the hard facts and compared them against competitor devices. Both series of tests help the jury to choose which entrant deserves their vote.
