Combination
of the storage system with an intelligent charging solution
Another example of how battery storage
systems are used is charging electric
cars. More and more companies are turning to electric vehicles and charging them for free in the evening and
at night using solar power generated during the day. Doing so saves on
energy costs and the PV system pays for itself faster if electric vehicles are
charged using power from a company’s own PV system.
Parallel operation can be either set up during initial installation
or added gradually. If, for instance, the requirements for the storage
system change, consumption increases or the company fleet is converted to
electric cars, cascading presents an ideal solution for expanding the storage
system and making better use of the PV power.
Profitable
and sustainable alternative to a diesel generator in the event of a power
outage
The storage
solution’s backup power function also performs impressively in parallel
operation. Thanks to the high storage capacity, the cascading solution
represents a sustainable alternative to
an emergency generator. This has not just economic and ecological
advantages; in comparison with a diesel generator, companies can use the
storage solution 24 hours a day, while a diesel generator is often used only in
the event of a power outage and therefore pays itself off significantly more
slowly.
